An Investigation of the Impact of Torsion Waves and Friction Characteristics on the Playability of Virtual Bowed Strings

چکیده
Playability” is measured for variations in a bowed-string simulation model. The variations studied are (1) the effect of torsion waves, and (2) the effect of the choice of friction model. It is found that (1) elimination of torsion-wave simulation does not degrade playability, and (2) the more recently developed “plastic” bowedstring friction model, in which the frictional force is a function of temperature, is more “playable” than prior friction models which depend only on relative sliding velocity.

Influence of Attack Parameters on the Playability of a Virtual Bowed String Instrument
The transient behavior of a virtual bowed string is measured under different conditions of bow-force and bowvelocity onset. The results are compared with the constant-force, constant-velocity case, and with published physical measurements made using a bowing machine. Issues related to “playability” of virtual bowed-string instruments are discussed.

In this paper, torsion extrusion (TE) process on 1050 aluminum alloy was investigated by simulation as a severe plastic deformation (SPD) method and the effects of friction coefficient, angular velocity of the rotating die and punch speed on maximum punch force were studied. A finite element (FE) model was developed to simulate the TE process via DEFORM software. The FE results were validated co...
متن کاملThe Analytic Technique and Experimental Research Methods of Post-buckling about Slender Rod Strings in Wellbore
The buckling behavior of rod strings in wellbore is one of the key issues in petroleum engineering. The slender rod strings in vertical wellbore were selected as research objects. Based on the energy method, the critical load formulas of sinusoidal and helical buckling were derived for the string with the bottom of the wellbore pressure. According to the sinusoidal and helical buckling’s geomet...

Water-hammer is a transient condition which may occur in a network as a result of rapid or slow valve closures, pump failures, changes in turbine loading, etc. It creates high and low pressure waves which travel along the system and decay as a result of wall shear stress. Comparison o experimental and theoretical results revealed the failure of steady or quasi-steady models in correctly predict...
